The EEMS Accelerate project brings together a consortium of specialist UK organisations to develop and demonstrate high performance electric cars. This project is innovative both in the consortium structure and the individual technologies it supports. It provides a unique opportunity for a range of SMEs in the sector to engage in extended real world testing of their vehicles in a way usually restricted to larger manufacturing. In addition, it will for the first time facilitate a sharing of more general data across all of the manufacturers in the consortium, providing benchmarking of common performance factors across an emerging market sector. The consortium consists of: Delta Motorsport, Ecotricity, Green Motion, Lightning car, Westfield Sportscars and Ricardo-AEA.

Westfield Sports cars

The company is engineering driven, focusing on lightweight, innovative sports cars which lead the niche and component build markets.  We currently retail over 400 vehicles per annum, to over 41 countries across 5 continents.  Our product range extends from the traditional routes of the company, founded over 25 years ago,  producing a replica of the Lotus XI to the Sport range of Lotus 7 inspired vehicles through to the latest track and road cars, the XTR and GTM ranges.

We have attained European Small Series Type Approval for our latest model, the Sport Turbo, providing us the ability to sell factory build cars to all EU states, and in doing so became the first UK based niche vehicle manufacturer to achieve this.

In 2006 Westfield Sportscars was taken over by a new parent company, Potenza Sports Cars, a UK based, and family owned business.  Since that time work has been on going on low carbon, high performance vehicles to meet the needs of the future, notably a hybrid and pure electric race car which will both reach fruition by late 2009.
